MA Health, Cultures and Societies

The University of Liverpool is proud to announce a new MA in Health, Cultures and Societies, a cross-disciplinary programme that is supported by cross-faculty research and teaching.

The MA Health, Cultures and Societies benefits from the research and teaching of several subject areas, including Archaeology, English, Classics, Geography, Law, Medicine, Psychology, Public Health and Sociology. It is the pedagogic counterpart to the interdisciplinary research and activity of the University of Liverpool’s Centre for Health, Medical and Environmental Humanities, which supports researchers working at the intersections of the natural and social sciences, arts and humanities.

The programme provides students with an exciting opportunity to explore issues around health, illness, wellbeing, and medicine, and acquire advanced training in associated methods within a critical practice-oriented framework distinctive to the University and the city of Liverpool. Students will benefit from the opportunities and support that the Centre and its partners can offer such as in funding applications, postgraduate and early career development and in opportunities for public engagement.

The MA Health, Cultures and Societies is ideal training for those seeking: an academic career in the field of medical humanities; a solid foundation for careers in education, the cultural sector, health and therapeutic care, politics, and third sector industries; or an opportunity for continuing professional development in relevant areas of employment.

Applications are now open for September 2021. Full- and part-time study options are available. For further information, please visit the course page.
