    About

    Personal Statement

Simone is a Research Associate in Speech Research in the Acoustics Research Unit. Her research interests include speech intelligibility and speech quality, speech privacy, speech enhancement, noise reduction, psychoacoustics and the effects of room acoustics and noise on talkers and listeners. Her current research focuses on evaluating and improving the intelligibility of highly degraded speech signals. Prior to joining the Acoustics Research Unit, she was based at the Voice Biomechanics and Acoustics Laboratory at Michigan State University, where she primarily worked on a National Institutes of Health funded project concerning speech accommodation in occupational settings and acoustical environments.

She is a member of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) and the Acoustical Society of America (ASA). She is also a member of the EPSRC UK Acoustic Network (UKAN) Steering Committee and the lead coordinator of the UKAN Early Careers Special Interest Group (2017 to current).
