Dr Marco Iuliano has been invited to present the competition process for the new Liverpool School of Architecture at Milan Design Week.
Held annually each April since 1961, the Salone del Mobile is the world’s largest and most prestigious design fair, attracting nearly 500,000 visitors from around the globe.
For the first time in its history, the Italian Ministry of Culture will participate in the fair with a dedicated programme focused on crafts and craftsmanship. On Sunday 26th April, Dr Iuliano will be in conversation with the curator of the cultural programme, to discuss the process of selecting the architect for the new Liverpool School of Architecture. The event is presented within the thematic framework Art / Culture / Process / Vision: New Creative Investigations on the International Scene.
The discussion will explore the five quality design indicators specifically developed for the competition, and their interpretation by the winning practice, O'Donnell + Tuomey. It will offer insight into the competition process as a model for architectural selection, highlighting the relationship between design quality, cultural vision, and institutional ambition.
