The Liverpool School of Architecture is proudly hosting the Expanding Agency: Women, Race and the Global Dissemination of Modern Architecture exhibition. The exhibition showcases the findings of a five-year research project (2022–2026), led by Professor Kathleen James-Chakraborty at University College Dublin, exploring the role of women and people from ethnic minority backgrounds in transmitting modern architecture and design internationally between 1920 and 1970. The Liverpool exhibition also includes a collection of works, correspondence, and ephemera from female and international students of the school, contextualising the wider research themes locally. Organised by the Landscape || Gender || Environment research collective, the exhibition occupies the newly completed Liverpool School of Architecture extension, designed by award-winning practice O’Donnell & Tuomey.
Expanding Agency is open Monday to Friday, 0900-1700, from 15th-27th April 2026. at the Liverpool School of Architecture, Bedford Street N, Liverpool. We are delighted to invite you to join the following public events and talks.
