Research Interest 1

My main current research interests are:

Study of the various phases of the Ancient Egyptian language including grammatical analysis with a focus on meaning.

Study of original Ancient Egyptian textual sources in hieroglyphs and hieratic, both in raw form for primary publication and in interpretation for the understanding of Ancient Egyptian society and culture.

Study of subjective modes of expression in Ancient Egyptian, including the expression of person-centred experience and rhetorical modes of language use connected with self-presentation in discourse (particularly in literature and letters). Increasingly centred on pragmatics and cognition and the role of subject-centred inferences in meaning and understanding.
