About the event
Location: Walbank Seminar Room, 12 Abercromby Square, University of Liverpool
The notion of voice has become central in recent readings of ancient literature from the intertextual and narratological perspectives. The aim of this paper is to explore the role of voice as a factor of Plutarch’s intertextual practice – when the idea of voice is literally mobilized in order to frame a reference. Plutarch’s apparent readiness to “oralize” the pre-text will then be foregrounded in his overall programme of cultivating paideutic values through the medium of texts and language”.
