    Current Post: Research and Development Lead: Marie Curie Palliative Care Institute Liverpool, University of Liverpool

    Roles & Responsibilities: My current role is lead of the Research and Development Division of the Marie Curie Palliative Care Institute Liverpool. This involves supervising and mentoring a team of researchers, including Honorary Clinical Lecturers, Academic Clinical Lecturers, Academic Clinical Fellows, Research Fellows and Research Assistants; writing and co-ordinating grant submissions; preparing annual reports/reports for funders; overseeing applications for ethics and Research and Development (R&D) approval; and participating as a strategic lead in the Institute Management Group. In the last 5 years, the Institute has secured research awards exceeding £5.6 million from sources including the European Union FP7 Programme, the National Cancer Research Institute, the National Institute for Health Research, Marie Curie Cancer Care/Cancer Research UK Awards and Marie Curie Cancer Care/Dimbleby Cancer Care, regional strategic health organisations and the University of Liverpool. Additionally the Institute has published over 120 articles in peer-reviewed journals since 2009, including PLoS Medicine, the BMJ, BMJ Supportive and Palliative Care, Pain & Symptom Management, Palliative Medicine, Supportive Care in Cancer, British Journal of Cancer, Clinical Teacher and the European Journal of Palliative Care.
