Skeletal Development & Evolution

Our research focuses on the determinants of phenotypic plasticity of the mammalian skeleton, ranging from structural mechanics through to the competing spatial requirements and functional influence of various soft-tissues (e.g. brain, cartilage and muscle). We have developed new imaging approaches to capture soft and hard tissue details simultaneously (contrast enhanced microCT) and employ computational simulations to predict stress distributions.
