About

Personal Statement

I am a Wellcome Trust research fellow in public health at the Department of Public Health and Policy, University of Liverpool. My current Wellcome Trust society and ethics fellowship (2016-21) is entitled “The impact of policies that aim to reduce child poverty on child and maternal mental health and health inequalities". This involves using national longitudinal data sources to evaluating the health impact of national policy changes using guidance developed as part of the Developing Methodologies to Reduce Inequalities in the Determinants of Health (Demetriq) project.

Since joining the diverse and innovative Department of Public Health and Policy in 2014, I have investigated health inequalities in pain, obesity, smoking, unintended injuries, bullying, children’s rights, and mental health. I am deeply committed to working in public health, and wish to specialise my expertise in the analysis of policy changes and their impact on mental health outcomes and inequalities.
