Create a calendar file

Click on "Create a calendar file" and your browser will download a .ics file for this event.

Microsoft Outlook: Download the file, double-click it to open it in Outlook, then click on "Save & Close" to save it to your calendar. If that doesn't work go into Outlook, click on the File tab, then on Open & Export, then Open Calendar. Select your .ics file then click on "Save & Close".

Google Calendar: download the file, then go into your calendar. On the left where it says "Other calendars" click on the arrow icon and then click on Import calendar. Click on Browse and select the .ics file, then click on Import.

Apple Calendar: The file may open automatically with an option to save it to your calendar. If not, download the file, then you can either drag it to Calendar or import the file by going to File >Import > Import and choosing the .ics file.

Professor David S G Goodman, Head of the Department of China Studies at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Suzhou, and Martin Jacques, author of global bestseller: When China Rules the World: the End of the Western World and the Birth of the New Global Order, will be delivering two lectures around the theme of ‘China in the world today’.

These lectures are being delivered as part of celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of our partnership with Xi’an-Jiaotong University in Suzhou which led to the creation of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in 2006.

Professor David S G Goodman
Professor Goodman is Head of the Department of China Studies at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Suzhou. He studied at the University of Manchester, the London School of Oriental and African Studies, and Peking University, and has taught at universities in England, Australia, and China. His work focuses on social and political change in China, especially at the local level. His most recent publications include Class in Contemporary China (2014) and the Handbook of the Politics of China (2015). He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, Australia; and a PRC Ministry of Education Distinguished Overseas Academic.

Martin Jacques
Martin Jacques is the author of the global bestseller When China Rules the World: the End of the Western World and the Birth of a New Global Order. The book was first published in 2009 and has since been translated into 15 languages, sold over 350,000 copies, and has been shortlisted for two major literary awards. He is a Senior Fellow at the Department of Politics and International Studies, Cambridge University, a Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University, Beijing, and a non-resident Fellow at the Transatlantic Academy, Washington DC.
