Events

Engage@Liverpool facilitates methodological training activity in four key areas.

1. National Centre for Research Methods Liverpool Short Courses

As a NCRM Centre Partner, the University of Liverpool contributes a series of short courses and a range of online resources via Engage@Liverpool. Recurring short courses via NCRM Liverpool include Participatory Action Research, Qualitative Diary Methods, Creative Ethnographies and Oral History Theory. Details of all NCRM upcoming courses, including the Engage@Liverpool contributions, can be found on the NCRM Training Catalogue.

2. Methodological Innovation and Development Award Scheme Events

Engage@Liverpool provides funding and publicity for methodological training events proposed via its Methodological Innovation and Development Award Scheme (MIDAS). Recent funding has been awarded to MIDAS events including a ‘History of the Unbelieved’ roundtable, an Electroencephalography (EEG) workshop, a ‘Politics and Practice of Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice’ symposium, and a Virtual Reflectance Transformation Imaging (V-RTI) training workshop. MIDAS-funded events are publicised via our newsletter and on Twitter, and details of how to apply for funding can be found here.

3. Social Research Methods Training Short Courses

In association with the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology, we offer short five credit specialised methods and methodology training modules in social science research. Details of these modules, including fee arrangements and booking information, can be found here.

4. Methods North West Methods Sessions

As part of Methods North West (MNW), a research and methods collaboration involving a range of institutions across the North West of England, Engage@Liverpool facilitates University of Liverpool contributions to the annual online MNW Methods Sessions series.
